Atkins Diet is officially called the Atkins Nutritional Approach. It was created by Robert Atkins. It is also a type of diet which can be the solution to overweight condition. This is a way of emitting unwanted pounds quickly and easily. Or simply put, it is a diet which requires the high-protien foods intake and lower-carbohydrates intake.

Atkins Diet Stages (Phase 1,2,3 And 4)
Atkins diet consists of four stages and in each stage there are suggested plans for a healthy diet. In the first stage or the induction stage, eating foods that are rich in carbohydrates, certain vegetables and alcohol are prohibited during the first few weeks. It was said that the first stage is the most crucial of all stages since you have to force yourself to mellow on the foods you really love to eat. In this stage, you will increase your carbohydrate intake but you must remain in the level where you are continuing losing your weight. The amount of carbohydrates that is to be added to is a maximum of 5 net grams. The next stage is the pre-maintenance stage where you will increase your carbohydrates intake to another 10 grams without actually gaining weigh. The last stage is the life maintenance stage in which you maintained what you have gained but with the option to start at the very first stage if you start to gain weight even a little.

But the diet is unquestionably effective in reducing weight, up to 10 pounds (4.5 kg) in one week. High levels of ketones in the blood suppress the appetite; however it can be very harmful. The ketone could create an environment which is diabetes-like in the body, potentially damaging to the kidneys and allowing blood sugar levels to fall dangerously low. (Ketones are three water soluble substances being produced by fatty acids breakdown in the kidneys and livers. The produced ketone becomes energy that is very vital to your heart and brain.)
